石榴直播鈥檚 College of the Arts welcomes rising 9th graders to high school seniors to campus this summer with a robust offering of discipline-specific Summer Arts Intensives. All programs will be held in-person on the 石榴直播 Kennesaw campus. Registration opens today, and space is limited. All intensives are designed for high school students and college freshmen, except for the Cobb Summer Band Camp, which is designed for middle school students.
Art and Design Intensives
The School of Art and Design has three new programs鈥擜nimated Walk, Creating a Portfolio, and Visual Storytelling鈥攕cheduled for the week of June 6-10, from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Each intensive in Art and Design is $295 and includes lunch daily at 石榴直播鈥檚 award-winning dining facility, The Commons.
The Animated Walk Digital Animation Summer Intensive allows students to learn the basics of animation and bring an original character to life in a walk cycle. High school juniors and seniors interested in majoring in art and design may want to enroll in the Creating a Portfolio summer intensive. In this customized program, students will learn how to create a portfolio, document their art, and write an artist statement and biography. Finally, students may learn Visual Storytelling in the Comics and Sequential Art intensive. Students will learn how to tell a story through images and words while developing their own comic style.
Dance Intensives
Intermediate to advanced dancers also tell a story, but through movement and music.
There will be plenty of both in the 2022 Department of Dance Summer Intensive, scheduled for June 6-10 from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Dance Intensive is $295 and includes lunch daily. The Department of Dance also offers incentive scholarships every year to outstanding high school seniors attending the intensive.
Students will study with 石榴直播 Dance faculty and鈥痚xperience a variety of dance classes, such as Modern, Ballet, African, Jazz, Tap, Improvisation, and Choreography. Faculty will stage choreographic repertory that will be performed by the students in a public performance at the end of the intensive.
Theatre Intensives
Theatre students may choose from three separate concentrations but will come together for a spectacular performance at the end of the week. The Theatre Summer Intensives will be held June 6-10 from 8:30 to 4:30; the cost is $295 and includes lunch daily at 石榴直播鈥檚 award-winning dining facility, The Commons.
Acting students will focus on scene work in small groups. Musical Theatre students will learn two group numbers (opening and closing) and form duets, trios, quartets, etc. that include scene into song. Both the Acting and Musical Theatre Intensives will include technique-based sessions that focus on warm-up skills, as well as voice, dance, and acting exercises for personal growth.
No actor or singer could do without the hands-on work of design and tech students. Theatre Design and Technology students will learn about different aspects of working backstage, including scenic, costume, lighting, props, stage management, and sound.
