The National Science Foundation (NSF) Cybersecurity Center of Excellence chose Kennesaw State associate professor Ramazan S. Aygun for its prestigious Trusted CI (Cyberinfrastructure) Fellows program, which provides seven of the nation鈥檚 top scientific cybersecurity experts with advanced training.
Aygun is the Director of the Center for Research Computing at 石榴直播 as well as an associate professor of computer science in the with joint appointment at the .
鈥淭his fellowship validates Dr. Aygun鈥檚 transformative work in the area of cybersecurity,鈥 said Sumanth Yenduri, dean of CCSE.
Aygun said being named as a Trusted CI fellow for 2023 is a great honor and opportunity both personally and professionally.
鈥淚t is a prestigious recognition, and I believe what I will gain from this will be a benefit to Kennesaw State. Plus, it allows me to talk about everything we are doing here at 石榴直播 to a national audience,鈥 said Aygun.
The Trusted CI program serves the scientific community and provides cybersecurity training over a period of six months via a virtual institute. The fellows are expected to attend the NSF Cybersecurity Summit in October and at least one other professional development opportunity approved by the Trusted CI program as well as make a presentation on their own observances of cybersecurity. After completion of the fellowship, participants are expected to lead and mentor their own communities in issues of cybersecurity.
鈥淲e need to always ensure that our researchers at 石榴直播 have a safe, secure research cyberinfrastructure. Being named as a Trusted CI fellow will help serve me and our university even more, especially in my role as director of the center for research computing,鈥 Aygun said.
